HVAC Service in Castlegate & Castlegate II, College Station

South College Station

Integrity 1st AC & Heating repairs and replaces air conditioning, heating, and heat pump systems throughout Castlegate and Castlegate II, the master-planned neighborhoods off Greens Prairie Road and William D. Fitch Parkway in south College Station. Original Castlegate systems from the early 2000s are past their design life, and Castlegate II builder systems from the 2010s are entering their first big repair years. We are a family-owned Brazos Valley company, and we handle the CSU Energy Back II rebate paperwork on qualifying replacements.

What is failing first in Castlegate homes?

Castlegate built out in the early 2000s and Castlegate II followed through the 2010s, so the neighborhood is really two waves of equipment. The original sections are on 20-plus-year-old systems that are usually on their last compressor, while Castlegate II homes are hitting the 10-to-15-year window where blower motors, capacitors, and evaporator coils start going. Nearly every home here is slab-on-grade with the air handler and all of the ductwork in the attic, which is the hardest place in Texas to be an air conditioner.

Brazos Valley clay soil adds a problem most homeowners never connect to comfort: as the slab moves with the shrink-swell cycle, attic duct connections and plenum seams get pulled open a little more every season. A two-story Castlegate home with a hot game room over the garage is usually leaking conditioned air into the attic, not suffering from an undersized condenser. We test for that before quoting bigger equipment.

The first-replacement wave

A 2004 builder system has outlived its design life, and a 2014 one is close behind. We give you a straight repair-versus-replace number, and our free second opinion is popular here when another quote feels rushed.

Hot rooms over garages

Bonus rooms and game rooms over garages roast in August. Duct balancing, added return air, or a small zoning change usually fixes it for far less than a bigger system.

HOA equipment screening

The Castlegate owners association requires exterior equipment to be screened from public view. We place and route replacement condensers so they stay behind the fence line and out of the architectural committee's mail.

Does College Station Utilities pay a rebate in Castlegate?

College Station Utilities still pays a real cash rebate for AC replacement. The Energy Back II program pays up to $800 to CSU electric customers who replace the central air conditioning system in an existing home with a matched 16 SEER or higher system (air conditioner, air-to-air heat pump, or geothermal). Both the evaporator coil and condenser must be replaced as an AHRI-matched pair, sizing rules apply, and a City of College Station building inspector verifies the installation before the check is mailed. CSU also credits $30 for a qualifying Wi-Fi connected thermostat. Verified July 2026 on the city's own site (cstx.gov).

One honest caution: the federal 25C energy-efficiency tax credit is gone. It cannot be claimed for equipment placed in service after December 31, 2025, so any contractor still advertising a federal HVAC tax credit in 2026 is quoting money that no longer exists. We help with the Energy Back II paperwork and permit instead, because that money is real. Every changeout we do in College Station is permitted through City of College Station Planning & Development Services and inspected, which is also a requirement of the Energy Back II rebate, and we pull the permit, not you.
